I don’t think either of us expected it to take as long as it did. After several months of nothing we started looking around for something we could do at home, something that might tip the odds a little in our favour.
We wanted it simple and gentle, easy to fit around normal life without it becoming another source of pressure. By that point the pressure was doing us more harm than the waiting was.
When we settled on an at-home insemination kit I genuinely had no idea what to expect. I think we both went into that cycle hopeful but holding something back, protecting ourselves the way you learn to after enough disappointments.
It worked on the first attempt. Neither of us had let ourselves consider that, and a few weeks later we found out we were pregnant.
Every journey is different, I know that. But taking a new approach gave us back a confidence we had quietly lost, and a moment we will never forget.
